KBW 2010 (May 9th)

The 4th annual KBW (Kyle Brett Wehrly) Golf Outing was on Mother's Day this year, because his battery was being deployed to Egypt (they actually left today - 5-23-2010).
.
Kylee with her Daddy just before he left for Iraq.

The weather was beautiful, the course was beautiful, the people were wonderful!

Amie and I found an interesting group of trees on the course. There were thorns growing off the side of the trees.

Tim.....the crazy driver!

Chris took some good pictures of Kylee & Janet at the tee!

Amie gave it her best to golf too!

It was a long day, dusk was entering the day when we left. The course had done a fantastic job with the flags!

Thank you KBW for paying the ultimate price! Thank you 123, friends and family for supporting the KBW scholarship!! And 123 - stay safe and we'll see you next year!!!

Mauling Love....

Amie loves our cat Scooter so darn much......Scooter not so much in love with Amie!! :(
.
Maybe that's because she thinks that hugging, loving and mauling are the ways to show her affection for Scooter!
.
Poor Scooter.......she spent how many years with boys that didn't demand such "touchy feely" type of love!! :)

Is it time.....Tim?

The last few weeks have left us wondering where Tim's future is. We are at a point where we believe that his growth at home has finished. He is completely content and comfortable to waste away his days on his x-box. He no longer seems to be interested in riding the bus anywhere. He rarely does anything other then go to work two mornings a week.
.
With school a thing of the past, his only real friend (who just graduated) comes over a couple of times a year and vise versa - and they play x-box online.
.
We think it's time for a change. If Tim is ever going to do more then he does right now - he's going to have to be pushed out of his comfort zone a bit.
.
We are investigating the possibility of a group home. We'd like to make this the right decision - not a rushed one. We want him to find a place where he can have some "Tim time" - but also have group activities and get togethers with peers his level.
.
Unfortunately - I haven't been super impressed with the "help" this town has to offer. The center for independent living didn't return my call for three days & then "could work me in some time the next week" - but never got back to me with information they were supposed to be obtaining.
.
The organization that works on placements was supposed to call me this week when she got back to town - and hasn't. So - I guess that means I need to make another round of calls.
.
After a pretty bad melt down on Mother's Day - we did have a pretty good heart to heart with Tim the following Wednesday & I think he also believes it's time for a change.
.
I am sad - but also relieved. I had hoped that we could get him further along in his independence then where he is. But I also want him to be taken care of appropriately - especially since in all likelyhood he will outlive us - so those future realizations are a part of our planning as well.

Amie goes to kindergarten!

We did make a decision about where Amie would go to school....we checked the different options & were very pleased with what the Christian School has to offer!
.
They have three year olds reciting all the Presidents in order. The 4 year olds know almost all of the capitals per state (when we were there, they were on the last ones)!
.
Plus we love that it's perfectly alright to pray and thank God & to learn about those things as part of her education.....instead of "separation of church and state"!!
.
We're going to put Amie in the 4 year old kindergarten class, because the 4 year olds are far advanced from where she even is at 5!! We think she'll be able to catch up by giving her this extra year. But if things go well, she may go straight to first grade next year anyway.
.
That's part of the beauty of this - the learning is so catered to the kids - it's a win-win situation!
.
The absolute largest class at the Christian school is 9 kids!! The catholic school had 21 and the public classes are anywhere from 19-27 kids in a class!!
.
Our only issue to figure out closer to school is who and how she will get back and forth to school!
.
All in all - I am super excited about this!!
