We had a choice - either schedule our little princess for her EEG using sedation.....or try to get her to sleep and do it without sedation.
.
We had an awesome EEG tech that was willing to work with us to do it on her terms instead of with sedation!
.
So every other Saturday he works a double & then sleeps at the hospital to start another double on Sunday. We decided that we'd give her her melatonin and bring her in at 8:30. She should be asleep by 9 and that gives us 2 1/2 hours to play with right??
Don't let that sweet picture fool you - it is true that was taken at about 9:30 - after she finally gave it up and fell asleep......and she stayed asleep as I picked her up and held her to let him start placing electrodes. But about 3 into it - the eyes sprang open and she looked around like, "what is going on." Then the eyes dropped again and we thought - ok let's keep going..
Long story short - she pretty much woke up completely. We went ahead and kept putting her electrodes on and eventually wrapping her head. She was so tired, and so fussy!
.
Eventually, we got her to lay back down & she finally fell asleep.....at about midnight!!
.
We got the EEG finished just before 1am!! Short night for a hero EEG tech!!! But I am so grateful that he worked so hard to get it done!
